Northwest Health – La Porte earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
“Recognition from nationally recognized review organizations, like the Leapfrog Group, provides affirmation that our hospital is providing excellent care for our patients.” said Donald Bivacca, interim CEO, Northwest Health – La Porte. “Our staff’s conscientious attention to each patient’s needs and following best-practice safety procedures helps them avoid medical errors, which contributed to this recognition. It is our privilege to provide high quality care for the communities of La Porte County and surrounding areas. “
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Northwest Health – La Porte,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to their patients and their families, and the whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to Northwest Health –La Porte, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
