The inpatient rehabilitation floor at Northwest Health – Portage recently enhanced the way they celebrate patients who have successfully completed, or graduated from, their intensive rehabilitation programs and are now ready to embark on the next chapter of their lives with renewed strength and vitality.
"We are thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduating patients. Their determination, hard work, and resilience have been truly inspiring,” said Jennifer Sobczynski, manager of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. “At their time of discharge, our graduates receive a certificate, homemade Inpatient Rehabilitation tote bag, and a Ms. or Mr. Independent bracelet. As they leave the unit, our team lines up to celebrate the patient with cheers, clapping, hugs and high-fives.”
The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Northwest Health - Portage provides comprehensive care and support to patients recovering from a wide range of medical conditions, including strokes, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic surgeries, and neurological disorders. Through personalized treatment plans and dedicated therapy sessions, the team of experienced staff help patients regain independence and improve their quality of life.
According to Sobczynski, the graduation ceremony serves as a testament to each patients’ perseverance and dedication, as well as a reminder of the unwavering support they received from their healthcare providers, families, and friends. “It’s truly amazing and inspiring to see how this positively impacts the patient and their family,” she adds.
"We are immensely proud of our graduates and their achievements," said Kristen Weinman, program director for Northwest Health’s Inpatient Rehabilitation service. "It has been an honor to be part of their recovery journey, and we look forward to hearing about their continued progress in the months and years to come."
