Nurse Practitioner Joins Northwest Medical Group in Valparaiso

Northwest Medical Group recently welcomed nurse practitioner Ashleigh Peterson, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC. Peterson joined the family medicine practice of Sudhakar Garlapati, M.D., at the Northwest Medical Group – Primary Care office located at 401 Wall St. in Valparaiso.

Ashley Dickinson, CEO, Northwest Health, shared that adding new practitioners is part of a continued effort by Northwest Medical Group to meet the growing demand for primary care throughout Porter, La Porte and Starke counties. In 2022, Northwest Medical Group added 16 new providers to the area.

“We’ve seen the need for more primary care providers throughout Northwest Indiana in recent years and are pleased to add new practitioners and services here for the patients in the area,” said Dickinson.

Peterson specializes in general and preventive medicine for patients. She provides treatment for acute illness and chronic conditions and welcomes wellness visits.

Peterson received her doctor of nursing practice and her bachelor of science in nursing from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. She holds a bachelor of science in kinesiology as well from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
